Access points

Getting to Kudafari

188.5 km from Velana International Airport

  • Public Ferry

    From Maafaru (N. Maafaru)

    4 hr • $7.64 per person

    Daily except Friday

RTL runs this as a fixed public timetable on a high-speed vessel — two sailings a day, one mid-morning and one early afternoon, and no service at all on Fridays. It runs to Manadhoo, the atoll capital, not to Kudafari: passengers change boats there for the Manadhoo–Kudafari sailing on the next row, which is the only onward boat of the day. Take the early-afternoon sailing and the wait at Manadhoo is about two hours; take the morning one and it is most of the day. Fare basis: fixed per-person, one-way public rate.

    Not suited to late arrivals

  • Private Speedboat

From Maafaru (NMF) airport jetty; also charterable from Malé

    Daily

Chartered locally rather than bought as a ticket, and the usual way to avoid the overnight wait that the one-sailing-a-day public boat can force. From Maafaru it is a short hop of about 14 km in a straight line; from Malé it is roughly 189 km, an open-sea run normally done in the early morning and weather-dependent. Arranged ahead of arrival, it is the only option that will meet a late or Friday flight. This is a charter fare for the whole boat, not a fixed per-person rate.

    Works with late arrivals

  • Domestic Flight
