Access points

Getting to Thoddoo

68.8 km from Velana International Airport

  • Public Ferry

    From Malé

    7 hr 20 min • $3.40 per person

    Mon, Thu

MTCC route, the atoll's conventional ferry runs from Malé – Rasdhoo – Ukulhas – Rasdhoo – Thoddoo, so it is a full day on the water rather than a direct crossing, and it picks up at Hulhumalé first if you are coming straight off a flight. Return sailings to Malé leave Thoddoo on Sunday and Wednesday only, so a stay has to be planned around those two days. Fare is priced per person for one-way.

    Not suited to late arrivals

  • Scheduled Speedboat

    From Velana International Airport jetty

    1 hr 15 min • $35 per person

    Daily except Friday

Run by Thoddoo boat operators on a fixed afternoon timetable, with a departure around 16:00 and the return leaving Thoddoo about 07:00. There is no Friday sailing and no evening departure, so a flight landing after mid-afternoon means either a night near the airport or a private charter. Seats are normally booked a few days ahead. Fare is priced per person for one-way.

    Not suited to late arrivals

  • Private Speedboat

From Malé / Velana International Airport

    1 hr 15 min

    Daily

Chartered through a guesthouse or a Thoddoo boat operator and available at any hour, which makes it the only way onto the island once the last scheduled boat has gone in the late afternoon. Quoted per boat on request. This is a charter fare, not a fixed per-person rate.

    Works with late arrivals

  • Sea Plane

    From Velana International Airport

    30 min

    Thu, Sat

Maldivian Seaplane began a twice-weekly scheduled service to Thoddoo in February 2026, which is unusual for a local island and by far the fastest way in. It flies in the afternoon in both directions, and seaplanes do not operate after dark, so it cannot connect with an evening international arrival. Resident and visitor fares differ sharply, so confirm which one you are being quoted. Fare is priced per person for one-way.
